Wanda Elaine Simpson died at home on March 7, 2026 surrounded by family, friends and her two dogs Mitzi and Autumn after her lengthy battle with Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 73 years.

She met her husband Ewen in Hamilton, ON in 1976. They were inseparable and very much in love until his death in 2016.

Wanda and Ewen lived the majority of their married lives in Sherwood Park where they raised their daughter Vicki and cared for numerous foster children. They loved them and she always remembered them fondly, along with nieces and nephews, all of which she considered her babies.

Wanda had a passion for attending and teaching yoga regularly. She was very driven by her staunch and unwavering support for women's rights. While attending the UofA law school she re-established the Women’s Law Forum where she served as president while attending and thriving in her studies.

She loved raising and breeding Pekingese and most importantly spoiling all of them. Sewing was another passion of hers. Being in her large sewing room, she enjoyed many hours creating numerous projects for friends and family while having dogs snoring at her feet.

Wanda later moved to Camrose after the passing of the love of her life. She continued to volunteer for causes near and dear to her heart.

She is survived by her daughter Vicki (Keith); grandchildren Kellyn, Maeve and Thomas; close nephew Mike Taylor and close niece Shelley White; numerous family and friends.

Wanda was predeceased by her husband Ewen (Feb. 2016); younger sister Donna Lilly White (May 1999); cousin and best friend Gary Jay (1992).

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to a charity of your choice that supports women in crisis.
