Shelley Ann Ferraz Waite
July 6, 1964 – November 26, 2025

With profound sadness, and with her children by her side, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Shelley Ann Ferraz Waite, on November 26, 2025, after a long and courageous battle. Born on July 6, 1964, in Montreal, QC, Shelley spent her final years in the Alberta countryside, where her fiery spirit, generous heart, and sharp sense of humour left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. 

Shelley was an extraordinary mother—her children were truly her pride and joy and the center of her world. She poured love into every part of their lives, fiercely protecting them, guiding them, and cheering for them with unwavering devotion. To her family, she was a safe place, a fighter, a nurturer, and the person who made even the hardest days feel bearable.

A lifelong animal lover, each one finding comfort in her gentle presence. She was a gifted cook who shared her warmth through food, working as a chef at Montreal's renowned Gibby's Steakhouse and often filling her home with the smell of meals made with love. She enjoyed thrifting, knitting, and creating small joys for the people around her—kindness was simply part of who she was.

Shelley is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children Jessie (Tony), Montana, and Travis (Cassie); her grandchildren Michael and Kali; her husband Dow Penney; her mother Bernice; her siblings Vivian, Leah, Sandra, Joey, Shannon and Rodney; her uncle Paul; her nieces and nephews; and many treasured friends and family. She also leaves behind her beloved pets Lulu, Lily, Fred, Max, and Molly. 

She is reunited with her devoted father Joey, Gran, father Keith, sister Lana, her aunties, cousin Darlene and her cherished animals.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to an animal rescue shelter of your choice.
 
Shelley will be forever loved, remembered, and missed beyond measure.
