Scot Stratmoen Obituary

Scot was born in Camrose on November 9th, 1959 to Gordon and Corrine Stratmoen, the fourth of five children. As a boy, Scot was always interested in sports. He played baseball, and shinny and street hockey were always a favourite for everyone on 54th Avenue. He was an avid hockey fan and did not miss too many Oilers games. After graduating high school, Scot attended NAIT, where he earned his red seal mechanics certificate. Living all his life Camrose, Scot worked as a mechanic at Lamb Ford for many years. Following that, he worked at Coil Tech as a Nitrogen operator. Scot always had an interest in vehicles, and would often help others with repairs and restorations. One of his favourite pastimes was working on the 1979 Ford he rebuilt to pristine condition.

Scot had a very kind soul, always willing to lend a hand to friends, family or neighbours. Scot’s proudest moment was when his son, Adam, was born. His happiest times were those spent with his boy. Many years later, Adam and his fiancée Jamie welcomed their daughter, Ava into the world. Scot was so excited to become a grandfather. Though he had not nearly enough time with her, it was clear to all how much he cherished being a grandpa.

Scot is survived by his son Adam (Jamie), granddaughter Ava, his mother Corrine (Matheson), sister Karen (Thomas) MacDonald, brothers Gary (Audrey), Brent (Sherry), Darin (Jennifer) along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Gordon, in 2021. Scot will be always remembered as a great dad, grandpa, son, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by everyone. The family would like to thank the staff at St.Mary’s Hospital for their kindness and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Weber’s Mount Pleasant Chapel, Camrose.

If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Scot’s memory may be made to an animal rescue of their choosing.
