Nels Allan Loberg was born August 6th, 1933 to Anetta and Ragnvald Loberg in Valhalla Centre, Alberta. He was one of 10 children in the family with 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
He grew up on the family farm near Valhalla Centre and endured the hardships of the Great Depression. Like most farm kids he worked the farm with his brothers and sisters. Later on, he worked for his Dad in his construction business in Dawson Creek. He also worked as a truck driver hauling heavy oil equipment up the Alaska highway.
While attending Camrose Lutheran College in the late 1950’s he came to his faith and was led to missionary service in Bolivia through the World Mission Prayer League. Nels met Marion Anderson as soon as he arrived in Bolivia, and they were married in 1965. Children, Susan and Tony, arrived in 1967 and 1971 respectively.
The Lobergs remained in Bolivia until 1980, when they moved to Dawson Creek BC, and then with Tony to Puebla, Mexico in 1985. They returned to Canada to continue their work with WMPL at the Canadian Mission Home in Camrose AB. Nels and Marion returned to Bolivia in 1988 to work for six more years before retiring to Camrose in 1994.
On a bright, sunny, Saturday morning of August 19th, 2023, surrounded by his loving children, he gently left this world. We pray he is happy and whole again, in the glory of heaven, reunited with his cherished wife, Marion who he had dearly missed for so long.
Dad is never far away.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Weber's Mount Pleasant Chapel in Camrose.
Memorial donations may be made to CLBI or the World Mission Prayer League.
