Merlyn Joseph Goy

    Merlyn Joseph Goy of Ryley, Alberta, formerly of British Columbia, passed away peacefully at home on May 26, 2023 at the age of 75.

   His memory will be cherished by his wife Cheryl Oliver-Lyons; son Dorian Oliver-Lyons, daughter Janna O'Halloran (Sean), daughters Jenni Goy, and Caitlin Goy (Ryan), son Miles Wood (Nikki).  He was very proud of his grandchildren and pleased to hear of the arrival of two great-grandchildren.  Merlyn dearly loved his sisters and their husbands, Sharon and Larry Nelson, and Lori and Stephen Kirkham. 

    Merlyn made friends everywhere he went, and many are left with happy memories of him, especially George Bohus of Lethbridge.  

    Merlyn was full of fun and good humour, always offered to help with anything for the people around him.  He loved to learn new things, whether it was building the prettiest woodshed in the province or repairing old vehicles.  He was a man of many talents and vast experiences across Alberta and British Columbia.  He took great joy in every day living, always found something beautiful in even the hardest times. 

     Merlyn was grateful to all of the staff involved with Tofield Health Centre, and the EMTs. The Home Care Nurses had a huge role, allowing him to keep looking out his own picture window and see the world.  Thank you for the many, many times you helped ease his body and mind with your respect, knowledge, and sense of humour.  Any memorial contributions in Merlyn's memory can be made to Tofield Health Centre Foundation.

Cremation has taken place and a private family wake will be held, as Merlyn wished.
