With great sadness, the family of Matthew James McDavid, 37 announce his passing on September 27th, 2024, in Edmonton Alberta.
Matt was born on October 13th, 1986 in Edson Alberta, where he resided till he was 18.
Matt was a kind, generous, thoughtful man, and a loyal friend throughout the years. Matt’s compassion for others shone through in his personality. Matt would always offer a helping hand to those who needed, and his incredibly sensitive nature was apparent with the pets he had, and all other animals.
Matt enjoyed playing soccer, hockey (he was a goalie), and would be so excited to participate in the hockey Summer schools. He participated in skiing and snowboarding with many trips to the mountains, and Silver Summit. Matt fashioned himself as quite the dirt biker, going a bit to fast on a couple occasions, resulting in a broken nose, and another time, broken toes. Matt enjoyed camping with his family, and quading on the endless trails near Edson.
Matt was fearless, and able to maintain his sense of humor through the obstacles he encountered in his life.
Nicole was Matt’s sister and best friend, and we would often see and hear him protecting her. Matt and Nicole listened to the song, "Winds of Change" over and over. Now they are together again, while he lives in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Matt was proud to be a Dad, and always spoke kindly about Summer.
Matt is survived by his daughter Summer, Mother, Colleen McDavid, his Dad Jamie McDavid, wife Deanne and their family, Ashley (Ricky), Aaron (Sasha), Kayla (Ted) and children.
His Grandma, Darlene along with Aunts and Uncles, Michelle (Jeff), David (Nadine), Judy, Lisa and Mark, along with their families. Matt is also survived by extended family and friends who will also miss him dearly.
Matt was predeceased by his Paternal Grandparents, Maternal Grandpa, Marshall, Paternal Uncles, Lloyd, Tim, and David, and his sister Nicole.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hope Mission.
