Laurie Weatherill
Laurie Weatherill Obituary
Laurie Robert Weatherill was born on July 8, 1949, and passed away on May 5, 2026.
Laurie lived a life grounded in community, compassion, and a deep love for the place he called home. A lifelong resident of Tofield and Beaver County, he carried immense pride in the history, people, and spirit of the community that shaped him. He believed strongly in giving back, supporting local causes, and preserving the roots and stories of the area he loved so dearly.
Laurie found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments — reading, gardening, tending to his trees, taking country drives, visiting with friends and neighbors, and gathering around a table for card games. He was known for his kind heart, thoughtful nature, and the genuine care he showed to both people and animals alike.
One of Laurie’s most cherished sentiments reflected the special bond he shared with his beloved dog, Skeeter: “Dear God, please help me to be the man Skeeter thinks I am.”
Above all else, Laurie treasured his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Vivian; his children, Shane (Susan) Weatherill, Sheri (Nick) Matheson, and Rachelle (Marc) Bibeau; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He will also be dearly missed by his brothers-in-law, Gord (Heather) Konowalyk and Charles Case, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Laurie was predeceased by his parents, his son-in-law, sister-in-law, and two grandsons.
Honouring Laurie’s wishes, there will be no public funeral service.
Those wishing to honour his memory may make memorial donations to the Tofield Municipal Library or the Tofield Food Bank.
