In Loving Memory of John Shanks

It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of John Shanks of Tofield, Alberta, on February 18, 2026, at the age of 91 years.

John lived a long and meaningful life defined by hard work, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family. He was a man who believed in lending a helping hand, sharing a good story, and appreciating the simple pleasures — a visit with loved ones, time spent outdoors, and the comfort of home.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Debbie, Larry, Lyle, Denise, Sherry, and Kelly, along with their families. John’s legacy continues through his 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. Nothing meant more to him than family, and he cherished every gathering, milestone, and memory created together.

John was known for his steady presence, warm smile, and the wisdom that comes from a life rich in experience. He taught by example — the value of honesty, perseverance, and kindness. His family will forever carry forward the lessons he shared and the love he gave so freely.

Though he will be deeply missed, John’s spirit lives on in the stories told around kitchen tables, in the laughter of his grandchildren, and in the strong roots he planted for generations to come. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and family that will never be forgotten.
