Obituary

Jane, the eldest daughter of Clarence and Jentina Stad, was born in Smithers in northern BC on April 14, 1963. She attended Ebenezer Christian School from kindergarten to grade 12. After graduation she waited one year for her sister Alida to graduate so they could attend the Canadian Reformed Teacher’s College together. They travelled by Greyhound bus to Hamilton, Ontario and completed the 3-year program in 1985. When they graduated, they both moved to Manitoba where they obtained teaching jobs with Jane teaching kindergarten for over 20 years. The sisters spent summers together prepping and decorating classrooms. After Jane’s teaching career she caught back up with Alida in Alberta and lived with her and her family for 2 years in Grande Prairie. After this she lived with her brother Theo in the Camrose area for 6 years.

Jane’s health declined rapidly over the last year of her life. She spent a few months in Tofield hospital and the long-term care centre. She passed peacefully with family by her side at the Grey Nuns Hospital.

She is survived by her 4 younger siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the Resurrection Lutheran Brethren Church in Camrose, Alberta with Pastor Jeremy Osterwalder officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Empower Global Canada.
