Ersel Obenaur

Ersel (Eileen) Alline Obenauer (nee Runham), beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Aunt, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 in Calgary, AB, at the age of 88.

 Eileen is preceded by her husband Ervin (Porky) Edward Obenauer; her Father Ernest and Mother Sarah Runham; all ten of her older siblings; as well as her brother-in-law Bob Obenauer.  Eileen is survived by her son Shane Obenauer, daughter-in-law Landie, grandson Logan, of Whitecourt, AB;  her daughter Sherry Ginther, son-in-law Murray, grandchildren Sadie and Jacob; numerous nephews and nieces, grand nephews and nieces, and more;  her brother-in-law Wayne Obenauer and family, and Bob Obenauer's wife and  Mama was born in a log cabin in the Red Lodge District, on the homestead near Caroline, AB.

 She  was a hard worker and devoted mother, who worked tirelessly to provide for her family.  Doing any job from waitressing to sewing tarps, managing a Seven-Eleven, hostessing for the Blackfoot Inn Dining Room, to being a top-selling Avon Representative in the Whitecourt area.  She loved good conversation over a cup of coffee and visiting her family, which were spread out all over the province of Alberta. Mama also loved Country Music, reading, picture and word puzzles, and crochet. She was a kind and generous woman, who was willing to lend a helping hand to most anybody who was in need.

Eileen was laid to rest in a small private service on Saturday, August 12th, 2023, at the Valley View Cemetary in Camrose, AB.  A Celebration of Life service is planned for next summer.  Place of service, date and time to be announced.
