It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Corinne Joy Freeman (née Wedgewood) of Ferintosh, Alberta, who passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, at the age of 59.

Corinne was born on July 24, 1966, to her loving parents, Joan and Clifford Wedgewood. She grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and creativity. She shared her life with her devoted husband, Gary Freeman, who was her best friend.  She was a cherished mother to Ariel Freeman. Corinne was also a proud and loving grandmother to Neavaya Freeman, Rhyder Freeman, Jaelyn Kendell and Caleb Kendell. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Christine Wedgewood, and brother-in-law, Stephen Merritt, along with all of her extended family and friends.

She held a very special bond with her granddaughter Neavaya. Corinne often said that the years after she was born are a treasured time filled with joy, laughter, and deep connection.

Corinne built a successful career leading her team at AltaGas Ltd. in Calgary, where she was admired for her intelligence, leadership, and kindness. Technically skilled and endlessly curious, she had a natural gift for understanding and sharing knowledge.

Outside of her professional life, Corinne’s greatest joy came from her love of fibre arts, especially crochet. Her creativity and dedication led her to author a book titled Box Stitch Crochet, which features over 20 patterns designed to share her artistry and inspire others in the fibre arts community.

Corinne’s compassion extended to all living things—she was deeply devoted to her beloved dogs and cats, who brought her daily comfort and joy.

In the fall of 2020, Corinne was diagnosed with cancer. Over the following five years, she faced her illness with remarkable courage, grace, and strength, enduring countless treatments and surgeries with an unwavering spirit. Her perseverance and positivity remain an inspiration to all who knew her.

Corinne’s warmth, creativity, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A celebration of Corinne’s life will be held on Saturday January 17, at The HI-U Centre in Ferintosh Alberta between 1 and 4 pm. All are welcome.
