Arvon Stacey Obituary

Arvon Harold STACEY
August 26, 1934 - July 7,  2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arvon Harold Stacey. He passed at the Long Term Care Facility in Tofield. He was a proud man enduring the inequities of a failing body.

Arvon leaves behind his wife Marilyn of 64 years, and his two daughters Jillane (Alan) and Kathryn. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Florence (nee Stack).

Arvon lived most of his life on the family acreage near Tofield, where in the early years he and Marilyn raised St. Bernard dogs and had a successful market garden. His career as a machinist led to his own business (Arvon Cycles) as a custom bike builder. One of his customers rode one of his bikes from the tip of South America all the way to Alaska. He was an accomplished cyclist and speed skater. He loved to take his family canoeing and camping in the mountains. His affinity for the mountains and skill with his Linhof camera helped him to produce many beautiful images of mountains.

Arvon had many friends, including Pat and Ian, and the Highlands gang of guys, who will really miss him and his stories.

He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, humour, inventiveness, imagination, creativity, and his lifelong passion for bicycles.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Tofield Care Centre for the care and support they provided for him.

It was Arvon’s wish to have a private family ceremony later this year.

In lieu of donations - go out for a bike ride!
